Hike from our campground
After our first of 2 nights camping, we spent the next day
hiking from the camp to the new volcanic craters, Magni and Modi,
formed during Eyjafjallajokull's 2010 eruption. Here is a natural
arch seen along the trail.
Flowers seen on the hike
As usual it was cloudy. Here you can get a good look
at the trail and the terrain.
Going up a snow field toward the craters
Getting close to the craters, we hiked across a snow
field that mostly covered a very large lava field.
It looked like it was going to rain, but it never did.

is next to the river far below
On the return to the trailhead, we did get a mixture
of sun and clouds for a while.
