Page Twelve - Plitvice Lakes National Park and Opatija
Plitvice Lakes National Park - a 114 square mile park that has
16 turquoise lakes linked by a series of waterfalls and cascades.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Flowers were in bloom in the Park
These dragonflies were all over the Park
Wooden footbridges are used as walking paths through
the Park.
Waterfalls are everywhere
The color of the water is varied and beautiful.
Opatija is in the Kvarner Gulf that separates Dalmatia from Istria
in Croatia. It is a seaside resort town just south of Trieste, Italy.
It has small, landscaped parks and gardens and large villas. Its
history as a Mediterranean resort destination for wealthy
Europeans goes back to 1844. This is a view from my hotel room.
Beach area in Opatija. Not a sand beach.
