Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep - Chiang Mai, northern Thailand
Doi Suthep is a forested mountain in a national park. This Wat (temple) is near its summit.
The central chedi is shown, a gold-plated structure that is a 16th century extension of the original.
A chedi houses Buddha relics.

Sunset
Wat Chedi Luang in Chiang Mai's old city. King Mengrai was killed
by lightning here in 1317. The Emerald Buddha (now in Bangkok) was briefly housed
here in 15th century. The chedi shown here, once 295 ft. high,
was damaged by an earthquake in 1465.

Umbrella factory near Chiang Mai - Artisans will hand paint almost anything on your clothes.
Several had T shirts/hats decorated with flowers, figures.

Most Thai males are ordained as monks at adolescence, a major rite of passage.
They usually spend at least a few months as monks earning merit for themselves & their families.
