Landscape
We took a walk through the Red River Valley area. The Red River is the longest river in Turkey. Here are
more cave dwellings and dovecotes. The pigeon dung is used for fertilizing the fields.

Balloons over hotel
Friday morning, May 29 - Hot air balloons surround our hotel. This is the day, not known to us at the time, that
the hot air balloon accident occurred that involved our pilot and balloon from 2 days before.

Pottery maker
Chez Galip, 8th generation master potter and current owner
of the family run business. All of the staff are relatives. Here he is making a teapot with lid. He used his feet
to spin the wheel and used his hands and one blade to make the pot. No two pieces they make are alike.

Pottery shaping up
Later in the process of making the teapot.

Painting the pottery
One of the staff painting a piece of pottery.

Volcano
Mount Erciyes, a nearby volcano that helped form the landscape of this area.
