GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR - APRIL 2007
Part Eight of Nine
A sea lion relieving an itch
Pat with sea lions on Espanola
An immature swallow-tailed gull
A booby about to take flight
A waved albatross with feet hanging down flying above Espanola Island
Punta Suarez on Espanola - a beautiful, peaceful spot
Red-billed Tropicbird, one of the most beautiful
found in the islands. Largely white with a red bill and
two extremely long tail feathers. The legs are very short.
They are plunge divers for fish.
Blow hole on Espanola
American Oystercatcher - A shore bird with underparts
white, otherwise mostly black with a long powerful
red bill.
Eyes are yellow with a red eye-ring.
Marine iguanas in the foreground with our boat, The Letty, in the background on the right. It held 20
passengers plus the crew with cabins that had hot and cold water for showers, toilets, and twin-size beds.
On the islands, we did both dry and wet landings from a panga boat (dinghy), though
no wet landing involved sliding into water higher than our knees.
